      Exploring global citizenship

      This preview course is not connected to the Virtual Town Hall. For the Teaching Notes please have a look at the resource below. The links to specific chapters in the course will only function in a course copy. If you want to work with your class with this course, please request a course copy.

      The project Teach about U.S. is coming to an end and will no longer be supported by the US Embassy. The courses can still be used in the school year 2022/23, please send a course request.

        Turning contents (in)visible

        1. In the side box "Administration", select "Course administration" > "Turn editing on"

        2. Click on "edit" next to the resources and select "show".

        3. The resource should now be visible. Apply the same procedure to turn visible resources invisible.

    • 4. A true global citizen?

      Section 4
      • The last module consist of two tasks. First, you are asked to discuss whether Humboldt can be called a global Citizen. Consult your original definition of a global Citizen and analyse excerpts and quotes by other researchers and journalists. You will then create your own project on "Humboldt and YOU" and can participate in the Humboldt 250 school competition (deadline: June 30, 2019).

    • Acknowledgements

      • Teach About US is joining the celebration of Alexander von Humboldt's 250th birthday with this project course. It connects language, history, and geography education and focuses on the historic figure of Alexander von Humboldt as an example of global citizenship. The project concludes with a student competition (see task Humboldt and YOU (class project)). Dates will be announced.

        We would like to thank our colleagues at Schubart-Gymnasium Aalen, especially Ms. Bettina Schönherr and her students, for supporting us in the development of this curriculum and piloting these contents in their classes.
